Ok I found this poem by John Shaw Neilson.. It's called Love's Coming. One of the best parts is that it describes love as "he" as opposed to the very populalr "she".

Here it goes; enjoy!

Quietly as rosebuds
Talk to thin air,
Love came so lightly
I knew not he was there.

Quietly as lovers
Creep at the middle noon,
Softly as players tremble
In the tears of a tune;

Quietly as lilies
Their faint vows declare,
Came the shy pilgrim:
I knew not he was there.

Quietly as tears fall
On a warm sin,
Softly as griefs call
In a violin;

Without hail or tempest,
Blue sword or flame,
Love came so lightly
I knew not that he came.

Jottings of life!!

Career and Stuff 11:10 am

Almost 2 months now at the Law school. The initial feeling of despair is fading (thank God!) but it still feels I've left Delhi. My 3 years of English (Hons.) made it all the more difficult for me to adjust so quick (my teacher was talking about a divorce case yesterday where the wife sent the husband's friend something my teacher called "loving letters") but they are wise, have to be, for they've done their LLM, and I'm struggling through my 1st semester of LLB. Fun.

DUSU elections over, which has it's goods & bads. Goods being no more annoying SMS's, phone calls, posters, noise, road blocking etc etc. Bads being no interruption while in class. Oh Lord, I was amusing myself thinking my phone number is a private affair, but no, these people find those and sent SMS's at bulk!

All the travelling makes me grumpy. By the time I reach college, I'm sleepy. By the time I reach home, I'm super sleepy. I now know the metro announcements off by heart. I can repeat them with them in their ridiculous tone. Plus, my luck, since the last two days,the metro I've been getting on is delayed. Jinx? Maybe.

I want something to happen. Something exciting & positive. Like a revolution. My fortune cookie on Facebook said "Everything will now come your way." & since all the bad things were coming around anyways since the last 2 weeks, I'm hoping that something good will also now come along (*touchwood*). I should go now & read up some more on that Loving Letters case. Cya!

Glass Window

Trapped. And all there is as an excuse for a connection with the outside world is a glass window.

I hate it, I do. I hate every bit of it. But that’s not even the point. The point is that I loved every bit of it. I still do, I still love all this if one looks at the bigger scheme of events. But for now, this very real, slow moment, I hate everything I love.

A “madwoman in the attic”? Maybe. And all there is as an outlet, is a glass window.

It’s raining outside & I’ve always loved that. But now its mocking at me, the rain is. I hate it. I see it falling from the sky & touching everything but myself. And so, I’m left untouched. For I’m trapped.

It’s not really a torture chamber. There’s everything one needs for a luxurious existence. But for all those things one wants, one loves, outside their glass windows.

You’re not on your own. You’re with your people. You never have had to lift a finger.

What help is that? I’m trapped, and this structure that holds me…its suffocating me, as if it’s a vacuum, like a very tight corset. Society is like a hand that destines you to wear a corset with an excuse to make you look desirable, and then pulls the strings so hard that the corset crushes your ribs, knocks out the breath out of your body, and leave you like this for life.

And you smile, to make yourself look desirable. You see yourself in that corset and high heels through the glass window.

I see and do nothing for I’m trapped. And supposed to be grateful for this entrapment. But for all those things outside my glass window.

Because I’m a woman.
